orn in Hainan, China, Canadian pianist Qiao Wang made her debut at the Beijing Concert Hall at the age of nine. Starting from this most renowned and prestigious music hall in Beijing, she not only became Professor Yuan Ling’s student at the Central Conservatory of Music but also dedicated 10 years in piano performing and graduated in 2008 with outstanding achievements.

 

As a recipient of full scholarship, Wang completed her bachelor’s degree and artist diploma within 6 years at the Vancouver Academy of Music under the direction of Professor Lee Kum Sing. Then, Wang was awarded full scholarship again, and she pursued her master’s degree (2014-2016) at the UBC School of Music, where she was honored as “The Most Outstanding Student” each year and the only representative student invited to perform at the UBC Chan Centre. 

 

Carrying an exceptional ability to rise to the top, Wang is a consistent prizewinner at numerous national and international piano competitions: the golden prize at the Hong Kong International Piano Open Competition as well as first prizes at the Hai Nan Music Festival, Key Meek Competition, Qinghai Cup Piano Competition and Gulangyu International Piano Competition.

 

With charismatic musical expressions and luminous stage presence, Wang has a wide repertoire and artistic talent which are recognized by many local musicians. Besides performing Mozart piano concertos with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra and the Stradivari Ensemble Orchestra, she has also been invited by the VAMSO to be the solo pianist at the Orpheum Theatre and by the UBC Choral Union to perform at UBC Chan Centre. Wang’s thoroughly engrossing character and undeniable grace have built a strong reputation of excellence in piano performance.

For over 12 years, Wang is committed to becoming a passionate, caring and reputable teacher, role model and mentor for her students. The majority of them have received musical awards and tributes at piano competitions including the Canadian Music Competition, Steinway Piano Competition, United States International Competition, Little Mozart, Crescendo Piano Competition. Additionally, she strives for providing her students with ample performing opportunities during special occasions at concert venues such as the Carnegie Hall in New York. In the past, her students were invited as guest performers at the Sun Nan Concert, Richard Clayderman, Yundi Lee and Huo Zun Concert as well. Furthermore, the Canadian Young Artist’s Standards of Excellence Award has been bestowed upon three of her students in 2019, the same year in which Wang was granted the CMC-BC Winner’s Teacher Award as well as be the one of  member of BC Society Committee. 

 

Wang ’s school, QW Piano Academy (2020), has recently gained the internationally recognized designation as a “Steinway Select Studio”.

Wang has recently to be named a Steinway Young Artist in 2021.
