Born in Shenzhen, China, Sophia was first exposed to piano at age 4. Moving to Canada at age 11, Sophia has started her piano study with Professor Lee Kum-Sing. During her time in high school, she had been invited to join the Byng Arts mini program as a piano accompanist of the string orchestras and was offered to present a concerto with the orchestra on stage. At age 20, Sophia obtained her Bachelor of Music degree at Vancouver Academy of Music under Professor Lee Kum-sing. She soon received an offer with scholarship from Royal Northern College of Music in the UK to complete her Master of Performance degree. Upon Sophia’s graduation at RNCM, she was offered to study at Royal College of Music to study under Professor John Byrne and received her Master of Music degree in London, UK.
As an active stage performer, Sophia has given concerts in China, Canada, England, Italy and won prizes in many piano competitions. During her years in the UK, she was highly recommended by the college’s head of keyboard department to perform alone in public venues. Sophia was also one of the few students representing the college of perform in RNCM piano day along with professors.
As an experienced piano teacher, Sophia began teaching since her undergraduate period. Her students in England and Canada were always highly appreciated in competitions and Exams.
